"ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY" John F. Kennedy
As a Sierra Leonean, coming to the United States opened my eyes to many realities about my country, which has given me an urge to see how I can help with women's and children's (girls) issues.
Connecting my experience in Sierra Leone and the US as a girl, a woman, a mother, a wife, and as a college student, primarily through my women's study class, I realize that women's and girls' issues cut across cultural differences, showing different patterns based on race, class, sexuality, ability, and religious beliefs. Nevertheless, I believe we could collectively empower girls, positively affecting them by supporting a movement among women to empower one another. The founder Lady Hawanatu L-Gobio Therefore, I present the HL-Gobio Foundation, a US-based 501c(3) non-profit organization devoted to dealing with women's issues by empowering women and girls worldwide through helping with their Physical, Psychological, and spiritual needs. Our three central pillars include Empowerment, Education, and Healthcare.

Women and girls’ issues cut across cultural differences, showing different patterns based on race, class, sexuality, ability, and religious beliefs. But one thing that all of us could collectively do to empower girls and which might affect them positively is by supporting the massive movement among women to empower one another,
Maslow's hierarchy of needs, basic and higher level needs, • Physical needs: necessity of food, water, sleep, shelter and warmth, exercise, safety and security • Intellectual needs: mental activity, learning, achievement • Emotional needs: importance of relationships, affection, love, self-concept, respect • Social
Our mission is based on the commitment to empower women and girls worldwide by creating opportunities and giving access to resources. This is done through a series of community outreach and engagement.
Activism is taking action to effect social change; this can occur in numerous ways and various forms. Often it is concerned with how to change the world through social, political, economic, or environmental change. Individuals can lead these changes but are usually done collectively through social movements.
A problem like inequality continues in family life, the workplace, and even popular values. Forr women to be able to enjoy equal rights, to challenge gender narratives, and to be able to establish a brighter future for our daughters. There should be a global movement that can inspire women to improve gender equality around the world. With that said, it is clear we need to make some changes here at home by boosting girls' self-esteem and self-acceptance. Empowering girls will prepare and teach them to empower others, so girls have to be encouraged, which will make them feel unique and strong. Encouraging every girl to speak up and make sure they know the value of their opinions so that they are never scared to use their voice. Encourage them to be authentic, self-expressive, and natural from a young age. Let her know that there is no “right way” for girls to dress, so whether she loves to dress up in full princess attire, or she likes to keep a stylish low profile in some loafers, she should know that fashion is not the only way to assert her unique personality. Their interests and hobbies should be supported and celebrated.
Spiritual needs are defined as needs and expectations which humans have to find meaning, purpose, and value in their life, such needs can be specifically religious, but even people who have no religious faith or are not the members of an organized religion have belief systems that give their lives meaning and purpose
Spiritual needs can include:
the need for meaning and purpose in our lives.
the need to love and feel loved.
the need to feel a sense of belonging.
the need to feel hope, peace and gratitude.
